Maxping didn't just happen overnight - it is the culmunative of the efforts of Jani Pirkola, Ralf "the Shark" Huelsmann & Simon Probert

Wednesday 14th April, 2009. Maxping Magazine is now online in beta format. This is the last post on CyberTech News. From now on, Max Ping brings the news to you in a better, more organized way with more authors and wider scope!

CyberTech News was started at the beginning of December, 2008. Now the scope of the articles have grown wider and we have many more authors. The blog format no longer fulfills the needs of CTN and Maxping is a natural progression for CTN itself and for the people contributing to it and for the readers. In may respects CTN was a great proof-of-concept, it demonstrated that the audience and interest was there and gave us the motivation to make something "bigger".

While this is still early days for Maxping, our aim is to build up a extensive resource of materials for all "adopters" of these open source virtual worlds, 3d web and immersive interent. Our initial audience is the existing group of readers at CTN which we see very much as the "friends and family" of Maxping. Once we have developed more content and fleshed out the resouces section with how-to articles and other technical resources our aim is to become the primary portal for the mass adopters that will come over time.

Why Maxping?
We are all very experienced both in software and also virtual worlds - as very early adopters and indeed in Jani's case the technical lead of one of the core projects RealXtend - we realized there was a massive hole in the marketspace for a magazine just like Maxping. The challenge is that while there are many people writing about these technologies in blogs, wiki's and on forums - there was nowhere that captured all this information in one easy to find and ( hopefully) easy to read place. To that end we give you Maxping.

The existing Cybertech News website will be left as an archive, many sites link there, and many articles at Maxping still link back to Cybertech News. The existing CTN RSS feed continues to exist, although the content for the feed will come from Maxping - if you already have a feed from CTN then you have to do nothing. If you don't have a feed then why not grab one now?

Thank you all who read, submitted and commented on posts at CTN, it has been a wonderful experience! We will continue to write articles at Maxping, please join us there. Your continuous feedback has given us energy to go on.

Let's make Max Ping a success, together!

Best Regards;

Jani Pirkola, Oulu, Finland - Founder and Editor
Ralf Hülsmann, Kempen, Germany - Founder and Editor
Simon Probert, Melbourne, Australia - Founder and Editor,

(and all the Maxping Editors and Authors around the world)
