MetaMeets09, A European MetaMeetUp/ Conference about the present and future of the 3D web: user created virtual worlds like Second Life, Active Worlds, Open grids and more

On Friday, May 22nd until Sunday May 24th 2009 the first Metameets Conference is taking place in Amsterdam.

Users of virtual environments from all over Europe are meeting in person as well as in cross media events.

The range of topics presented covers all sorts of virtual world activities from business oriented, collaboration, non-profit (supporting people with disabilities), and education to culture.

The aim is to meet, inform and exchange experiences. Of course with lots of fun!

The organizers offer participants the opportunity to build a bridge from one virtual world like Second Life (TM) to the others like Active Worlds (TM), Open Source and Metaplace etc.

They are also keen on illustrating, that these worlds are of great benefit from a time-saving and cost-reducing point of view.

Different backgrounds, cultures, interests and aims connect people from all over the world to work, interact and learn from each other.

Not only experienced users are welcome. The conference also offers visitors without experience in virtual worlds the possibility to get to know this new kind of media and environment.

The organization is in the hands of community members.

The speakers include:

  • Tim Gorree (Nokia - IT Architect )
